We were so incredibly blessed to have a wonderful family move into our ward a few years back, the Fairchilds! They moved from Mississippi and brought with them all the Southern Hospitality, Cute Sayings, and Love that one could ever hope for.
We decorated up the tables, and had a basket full of beads for all who wanted to decorate their neckline!
Jason drove an hour a way to a place that sold live crawfish for just such a thing! (Who knew that you could find a place like that in California - and who knew that they are alive when you get them! Yikes, my fingers stayed far from this ice chest!)
I had great video of the boys dumping the crawfish into the pot, and of Amanda teaching us how to suck the juice out of the crawfish - but I am having trouble with the whole video thing lately! Such a bummer, cause it really was great. But alas, at least I can show you the final product. Corn, potatoes, garlic, onion, crawfish and shrimp were on the side of this. Everything was cooked in a cajun seasoning and had a nice warm heat to it.
Preston was named King of the Crawfish! That large plate are all the leftovers of the crawfish that he had personally eaten - and he was still going strong!
Thanks to this fun group - I would say that our Mardi Gras...Mormon Style was a huge success!
soooooooo YUMMMY and sooooooooooo FUN! You are such a little party animal....but next time you have a party....how about you invite me???
ReplyDeleteTHANKS :)
Michele we had so much fun and they boys had an absolute blast! Ethan keeps asking when we are going to the Bishops house again to play with his box of toys. We really did have so much fun and truly enjoyed the company! Thank you for a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteUm...I'm with Ash. Where's the love? I would have loved a little crawfish action! I love you...that looked like a total blast.
ReplyDeleteAm I allowed to jump in and cry about us not being invited either? :) That's OK, I get it--you move away and aren't loved anymore...Although for this one I would have been too freaked out at the live crawfish thing. We had one as a "pet" once and it jumped out of the tank and I was on the phone freaking out to Ben about how to get it back in. So love us for some nice eat things that are already dead party.
ReplyDeleteAwww that looks like so much fun! We miss ya'll! We're coming in June for a visit tho!
ReplyDeleteThank you for letting us party at your house--it was so much fun! We love you McKee Family!
