What an Amazing Teacher!!

At the beginning of April we went to Idaho, for a quick visit. We got there late on a Thursday night and on Friday morning I had the great pleasure of going to Kindergarten with Ashleigh. She had been telling the kids that I was going to come visit, they had been practicing on how to say "Mrs. McKee" I of course have been hearing stories for months now of all these little children, and I was just as excited to see them.

I couldn't take any pictures of the kids (it's not allowed) , but I wish that I could have. They have the sweetest little faces. When the kids came into the classroom Ashleigh asked them if they noticed anything different about the class room. They started picking out little random things that were changed (different writing on the chalkboard, or a picture that was moved, all which were correct, but not what she was looking for.) All of a sudden some of the kids started pointing over in my direction, and she played along like she had no clue at what they were pointing at. It was so cute, they were so excited to make her understand that there was a lady in their room! They all started saying, "It's Mrs. McKee, It's Mrs. McKee" Sweet! She asked them if we looked alike and they said NO! She said, "What about when Mrs. T had blonde hair, then do we look alike?" One of them said, "Well maybe, but Mrs. McKee wears glasses." Then another chimes in and says, "That's because she can't see very well!" Ha ha, I love little children, you will always get a full bowl of honesty with them!
Through out the day, I found myself getting weepy as I watched Ashleigh teach. Since she was a little girl, not much older than kindergarten herself she would tell us, I want to be a kindergarten teacher. She never swayed. And now, all these years later, here I was, sitting in her classroom, watching her teach these little children who obviously adore her. She is an AMAZING teacher, and the children respond to her with great enthusiasm. Ashleigh has little songs, that prompt the children to do different things, (line up, get your back packs, help on spelling words, etc.) when the kids start to hear the song, they sing along and do whatever thing that song talks about. It was so cute, I just loved it, and I just LOVED watching her lead those sweet children.
